and i think there are many long forgotten relics out there in hidden in the nooks and crannys of urban singapore that people have neglected with time. one of them is COUNTRY MANNA. sigh how sad.
i had dinner there today, and the food there is still as outstanding as it was so many years ago when the place would be full every satudray night. their signature oven baked soup with puff pastry was scrumptious, and the must-eat all time favorite, the spring chicken, was packed with the full flavor of the spices used. in my opinion, the spring chicken at country manna is still the best ever. always end off with the brownie as i did, the chewy oversweet confection will surely keep your spirits up for the rest of the night.

LEMON MERINGUE PIE.



the crust is only a thin layer at the bottom of the pie, which means the rest of the pie is filled with THE GOODIES. HA HA HA. the cream is ignorable, i think its just to add volume to the pie. but the lemon, OH THE LEMON. its tangy and sweet and sour and melts in your mouth if u thaw it correctly. my GOODNESS its flavor BURSTS in your mouth, and it seems to be able to retain its coldness better than the rest of the pie, so its super refreshing when your tongue touches the yellow lemon filling. TRY IT MAN its seventeen bucks for one GIGANTIC pie at cold storage specialty. u wont regret it.

anyway, last night was PURE FUN. i think we woke up the whole neighborhood singing at the top of our voices while walking back from liquid kitchen at one in the morning. AND LAST NIGHT WAS A TOTAL GROW FAT EXPERIENCE TOO. beer battered fish and chips and cajun fries and fried mushrooms and cocktails and mocktails and a whole tub of cookies and cream is definitely NOT going to keep my weight down. how i wish there was a remote control to press to increase my metabolic rate so that i don have to work all that fat off. anyway, dont watch disturbia if u havent, its not worth the two hours plus waiting for tudou to load and finding parts of the movie which are missing. some random idiot out there decided to upload part a c and d BUT NOT B. thanks ah random idiot

(yes im a genius) see its hanging again. and everytime it hangs my keyboard and mouse will disconnect and i will have to wait around half a minute for everything to unhang and reconnect again. sigh. how long will i need to complete this post man. oh. i ate some crab thing at some place  today. the crab there is really sweet man even better than seafood center and all. trust me, go try it. but go early in the evening, coz theres a one hour queue plus wait ahead of u if u dont. but if u do ever get your hands on a table and convince one of the waitresses there (armed with a pen and order form and sophisticated looking earpiece each, walking around busily trying to make us believe they have no time for you) to take your order, try the CLAYPOT CRAB WITH NOODLES and CREAMY BUTTER CRAB its very good. woo~ nothing else there is worth a mention though. sadly. BUT the supersweet superdelicious crab there is more than enough to make up for it. WOO~

i was on the train today, and in my playlist today on my trustworthy little creative (i WISH i could say on my iPod only i don't have one) was -- the whole album of Boys Like Girls.

i LOVE this album.

LOVE.

for many many many many many reasons. a good album  is like a good book, with a proper structure, and the sequence of tracks carefully chosen. and the one and only existing album of Boys Like Girls is a Beautifully Written Book. first, it kicks off to an impressive start with the introductory guitar and drum sequence of the great escape, followed by the somehow captivating voice of the lead singer, who seems to manage to make powerful announcements in the choruses of most songs. the rest of the songs are filled with the familiar style of guitar backgrounds and some catchy drum sequences accompanying the voice of the lead singer, who, i must say, spins some rather meanignful lyrics. personal favorites include thunder, the first song they wrote together as a band, top of the world and five minutes to midnight. popular tracks include the great escape, the track that earned them considerable mainstream success, and hero/heroine, their first single. the constantly vibrant punk-rock album concludes with a final semi-slow number, holiday, which is strategically left to the last track as it truly brings the album to a complete, melodramatic end with a miraculous infusion of a portion of the great escape, including the catchy drumbeat, into the last minute of the track.

what a wonderful album to accompany me on a tuesday afternoon while riding a train downtown.
